Why Would I Submit Work?
Improve Education and Assessment

This is your chance to contribute to improving the assessment of students in the United States.

If you have ever been frustrated by the current methods of assessing students, this is your chance to be a part of a transformative new project to prove that there are better and more meaningful ways to assess what students know and help them improve.

EdSteps aims to use real student work to build continuums from novice to expert in key skill areas. These continuums will allow you to see concretely how well your students’ performance compares to students across the country, regardless of grade level.

Instead of only being able to compare your students work to the work of other students in your classroom, you will be able to help your students and their families see how well they are doing nationally and show them clearly if they are on track to be prepared for college and post-secondary success.

EdSteps has the power and the potential to radically change the nature of assessment of students in the United States, but only if people like you participate in its construction. EdSteps needs dedicated teachers to help their students submit work to the project and to help rate work in order to create the most comprehensive database of student work in the world.

What if I’m a student?

Imagine taking control of your own learning, looking at the continuums, understanding what you need to do to improve and having instant access to resources to help you move along this progression. EdSteps is transparent – the intention is not to hide what it takes for one to be successful, rather to provide clear and explicit examples and understandings of what success looks like.
