All of the work that EdSteps does-- both current and future-- is in service of the vision of teaching and learning that prepares every child with the skills and competencies needed for lifelong learning, meaningful work, and citizenship.

In the service of this vision, EdSteps seeks to create teaching and assessment resources that will help achieve a series of ambitious goals:

• Making it routine for teachers to evaluate students’ classroom work and use it as a measure of student improvement
• Providing exemplars of student work as well as indicators of college and career readiness along a continuum of skill levels
• Giving every educator access to effective tools for teaching and assessing key skills and competencies
• Prompting educator leadership in developing and implementing learning assessments and activities
• Promoting anytime, anywhere learning for all learners
